While Stonehouse Stables celebrated its 27th year in business on May 1, 2023, the Tack and Habit Shoppe just turned 7 years old in June of 2023. A full service tack shop had been a dream of ours for only about 15 years! When a local tack shop changed hands and then closed, we knew the time was right to try to put our dream into action. At the same time, our growing horse business was out of office space, having long ago taken over what had originally been a rider’s lounge for that purpose. Not only that, but the same overcrowded office space housed a small collection of convenience items like hair nets for our riders as well as some Stonehouse Stables logo wear.
And so in the fall of 2015 we poured the foundation for an office/tack store, completed the building in the spring, and opened in June 2016. Opening in a better space was great, but the demand soon outgrew the space originally provided for the store. This was no problem as we had designed the store section of the building to be able to expand, and expand we did the following year. Our almost 2,500 square foot office/tack store (with the majority of space devoted to the store) was complete, and our dealerships and inventory continue to expand to match demand.
Now, especially in light of the desirability of no contact shopping, we have created an online tack store to help meet your needs when you can’t be here in person. We do recommend you visit us in our brick and mortar store and enjoy our knowledgeable and supportive staff in person.
